Development of Resistance Sintering Furnace for Heat Treatment of 22MnB5

This paper presents the development of resistance heating furnace based on direct electrical conduction method that can perform with lower energy. Based concept welding, was developed for heat treatment 22MnB5 Boron steel aim to change microstructure from pearlite austenite phases before quenched into martensite phase. The main component this machine consisted transformer, copper electrodes, cable coil and wood frame structure. design resembled welding upper electrodes were assembled together mounted by frame. energy collected current flow through cooper rolled toroidal transformer. result shows capable steelwith maximum temperature 721.2°C. However, demonstrates overheat after 7 minutes due insulation burn cable. Further improvement cooling system need be addressed prolong operation.
